- a) Using a hammer and chisel, loosen the locked portion of the nut.
- b) Clamp the front flange of the shaft in a vice, unscrew the nut and remove the plate washer.
- c) Apply alignment marks to the rear flange and shaft.
- d) Using a puller, remove the rear flange of the propeller shaft.
- d) Remove the center support bearing and plate washer.
2. Check the center support bearing.
- a) Rotate the bearing by hand, applying force to it in the direction of rotation. Make sure that the bearing moves smoothly, without jamming.
- b) Check that the seals are not damaged.
