Disassembling the cardan shaft [Toyota Corona T190]

1. Remove the center support bearing from the front propeller shaft.
  • a) Using a hammer and chisel, loosen the locked portion of the nut.
  • b) Clamp the front flange of the shaft in a vice, unscrew the nut and remove the plate washer.


  • c) Apply alignment marks to the rear flange and shaft.


  • d) Using a puller, remove the rear flange of the propeller shaft.


  • d) Remove the center support bearing and plate washer.

2. Check the center support bearing.
  • a) Rotate the bearing by hand, applying force to it in the direction of rotation. Make sure that the bearing moves smoothly, without jamming.
  • b) Check that the seals are not damaged.
