Removal the propeller shaft [Toyota Corona T190]

Cardan shaft: 1 - boot, 2 - front propeller shaft, 3 - plate washer, 4 - plate washer, 5 - central support bearing, 6 - rear flange of propeller shaft, 7 - washer, 8 - rear propeller shaft


Caution: When installing the cardan shaft in a vice, use soft pads to avoid deforming the pipe.


1 Loosen the coupling bolts.
  • a) Press and hold the brake pedal.
  • b) Using a socket wrench, loosen the bolts 1/2 turn.
  • c) Loosen the two center support bearing bolts.

2. Disconnect the driveshaft from the rear differential.
  • a) Apply alignment marks to the connecting flanges.


  • b) Unscrew the four bolts, remove the washers and nuts.

3. Disconnect the propeller shaft from the gearbox.
  • a) Unscrew the two bolts and remove the central support bearing.
  • b) Disconnect the front propeller shaft flange from the gearbox.
  • c) Insert a plug into the gearbox to prevent oil leakage.

4. Disconnect the front propeller shaft from the rear propeller shaft.


  • a) Apply alignment marks on the coupling and flange.

Note: Do not damage the surface of the parts when applying alignment marks.



  • b) Using a socket wrench, remove the six bolts and three washers and separate the front propeller shaft from the rear propeller shaft.
