Removal the high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) [Toyota Carina T190]

1. Drain the coolant.

2. Remove the timing belt.

3. Remove the air intake with the air filter cover.

4. Remove the fuel injection pump drive pulley.

5. Disconnect the vacuum hose.

6. Disconnect the fuel shut-off valve connector.

7. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.

8. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the bracket.

9. (Models with automatic transmission) Disconnect the throttle valve control cable.

10. Disconnect the wiring harness and move it to the left.

11. Disconnect the coolant supply pipe.

a) Disconnect the radiator supply hose, the hose from the coolant supply pipe and the heater hose.

b) Unscrew the nuts and bolts as shown in the figure.



c) Unscrew the two nuts and bolt and remove the coolant supply pipe together with the gasket.



12. Disconnect the two coolant bypass hoses.



13. Disconnect the coolant bypass pipe.

a) Loosen the bolt shown in the figure.



b) Unscrew the nut shown in the figure and disconnect the tube.

14. Remove the high pressure fuel pipes.

15. Disconnect the fuel supply hose.

16. Remove the fuel injection pump.

a) Before removing, check if the installation marks are aligned. Apply them if not installed.



b) Unscrew the bolt and two nuts securing the high-pressure fuel pump and remove the high-pressure fuel pump.





Removal the fuel injection pump
1 - accelerator cable,
2 - wiring harness,
3 - gasket,
4 - coolant supply pipe,
5 - high pressure fuel pipes,
6 - air intake with air filter cover,
7 - throttle valve control cable,
8 - fuel hose,
9 - coolant drain pipe,
10 - coolant drain hose,
11 - Fuel injection pump,
12 - fuel injection pump drive pulley.
