Attention! Pre-check the condition of the fuel hoses and tubes. Keep track of your fuel consumption. If the flow rate is significantly higher than normal, then the cause may be damage to the pump diaphragm. In this case, the oil level may exceed the norm, and the smell of gasoline may spread from the oil.
1. Disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor and insert a tee with a pressure gauge.
2. Start the engine and check the fuel pressure, which should be in the range of 0.18–0.6 atm.
3. After stopping the engine, the pressure should decrease slowly.
4. If the engine does not start, rotate the starter until the pressure gauge shows.
5. If the pressure drops rapidly, the pump outlet valve is faulty and the pump should be replaced.
6. If the pressure is too high, check the cleanliness of the pump vent.
7. If the pressure is too low, replace the pump after checking that the hoses are clean and not pinched.
