1. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs by holding the spark plugs only by the rubber tips as shown in the figure. Improper handling of the wires may cause internal wire breaks.

2. (Except 3S-GE and 7A-FE) Disconnect the high-tension wires from the distributor cap or from the ignition module cover (contactless ignition system unit). To do this, use a screwdriver to pull back the spring latch and disconnect the holder together with the high-voltage wire from the distributor cap, as shown in the figure.

3. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance of each high-voltage wire. Maximum resistance: 25 kOhm.

If the resistance exceeds the specified value, check the wire terminals or replace the wires.

Note: For 3S-GE, 7A-FE engine, wire resistance is checked together with the distributor cap or integrated ignition unit.

4. (Except 3S-GE and 7A-FE) Connect the high tension wires to the distributor cap or integrated electronic ignition module as shown in the illustration.

Note: Make sure the holder is properly installed on the rubber spacer and distributor cap as shown in the figure.

Make sure the spring clips securely hold the high-tension wires on the distributor cap.

5. Connect the high-voltage wires to the spark plugs, paying attention to the wiring and fixing of the wires with clamps, as shown in the figure.
