2. Through the control hole in the caliper, check the thickness of the brake pads. Minimum thickness 1.0 mm. Replace pads if necessary.
3. Raise the caliper.
- A) Remove the brake hose bracket.
- b) Turn away a bolt of fastening.
- V) Raise the caliper and secure it Note: Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper.
4. Remove the following parts:
- two brake pads
- three anti-squeal pads,
- four retaining plate inserts (3S-GE engine),
- four anti-bounce springs (3S-FE engine).
5. Check disc thickness and runout.
6. Install the four retaining plate bushings (3S-GE engine) or anti-bounce springs (3S-FE engine).
7. Install new pads. Note - If any brake pad needs to be replaced, replace all rear brake pads.
- A) Apply special grease - for disc brakes to both sides of the inner anti-squeak pad.
- b) Install two anti-squeal pads on the outer pad.
- V) Install the anti-squeak pad on the inner pad.
- G) Install two pads with pad wear indicators mounted on top (3S-GE engine) or from below (3S-FE engine).
Caution: Do not allow oil or grease to come into contact with the running surfaces of the pads and disc.
8. Install the caliper.
- A) Remove a small amount of brake fluid from the reservoir.
- b) Push the piston into the cylinder with the handle of a hammer or similar.
Note: If the piston does not move well, loosen the bleeder screw and retract the piston if there is a slight leakage of brake fluid.
- V) Install the caliper and tighten the mounting bolt. Tightening torque 20 Nm.
- d) Install the brake hose bracket. Tightening torque 29 Nm.
9. Install the rear wheel.
10. Check fluid level in reservoir and top up if necessary.
