- A) Using the special tool, install a new circlip.
- b) Apply gear oil to the inner joint splines.
- V) Using a copper rod and a hammer, install the drive shaft until it locks with the circlip.
Note: before installation, turn the circlip on the drive shaft with the slit down.
2. Check the correct installation of the left drive shaft.
- A) Check that there is an axial clearance of 2-3 mm.
- b) Check that the drive shaft cannot be removed by hand.
3. Install the right drive shaft. (3S-GE, 3S-FE and 4S-FE)
- A) Apply gear oil to the inner joint splines Apply grease to the seal lip.
- b) Install the center drive shaft with the right drive shaft through the bearing bracket.
Note: Be careful not to damage the seal lip.
- V) Using pliers, install a new circlip.
- G) Install and tighten the two bolts. Tightening torque 64 Nm.
- V) Install and tighten the two bolts.
- (For models with engines 2C, 4A-FE) Using a screwdriver and hammer, install the drive shaft into the gearbox.
Note: Be careful not to damage the covers.
4. Connect the drive shaft to the hub.
Note: Be careful not to damage the inner seal.
5. Connect the steering knuckle to the lower arm. Tightening torques for models with engines:
- 3S-GE: 91 Nm
- 3S-FE, 2C, 4A-FE and 4S-FE: 127 Nm
6. (3S-GE, 3S-FE and 4S-FE) Connect the anti-roll bar to the lower control arm. Tightening torque 64 Nm.
7. Connect the tie rod end.
- A) Connect the tie rod end to the steering knuckle and tighten the nut. Tightening torque 49 Nm.
- b) Install a new pin.
Note: If the cotter pin holes do not line up, turn the nut a little further.
8. Install locknut, locknut cap and new cotter pin
- A) Install and tighten locknut. Tightening torque 226 Nm.
- b) Install locknut cap and new cotter pin.
9. (Manual transmission) Pour gear oil into the gearbox.
(Automatic transmission) Fill with working fluid.
10. Install the lower motor guard.
11. Install the front wheel and lower the vehicle. Tightening torque 103 Nm.
12 Check the alignment of the front wheels.
