Replacing the front and rear output shaft seals [Toyota Land Cruiser J70]

1. Drain the oil from the transfer case.

2. Remove the front and rear propeller shafts.

3. Removing the output shaft connecting flange.

a) Using a hammer and chisel, loosen the countersunk portion of the lock nut.



b) Holding the flange with a special tool, unscrew the lock nut, then remove the washer and the connecting flange.



4. Replacing the oil seal.

a) Using a special tool, remove the output shaft seal.



b) Using a drift and hammer, press in the new seal.



c) Apply grease to the seal lip.

5. Installing the connecting flange,

a) Install the connecting flange, washer and lock nut. Hold the flange with the special tool and tighten the lock nut.

Tightening torque - 127 Nm

b) Using a hammer and chisel, tap the lock nut in place.

6. Install the front and rear propeller shafts.

7. Fill the transfer case with transmission oil.

Oil class according to API - GL-4 or GL-5

Recommended viscosity: SAE 90

Filling capacity - 2.1 l
