Examination
1. Disconnect the connector (the sensor is located on the throttle body) and check for 5 V between terminals 2 (–) and 1 (+) with the ignition on. The connector terminals are indicated by numbers.
2. Connect the connector and check for voltage between terminals 2 (–) and 3 (+) by connecting the voltmeter probes to the back of the terminals. With the ignition on, the voltage should change from 0.5 V when the throttle is closed to 4.5 V when the throttle is fully open. Otherwise, replace the sensor.
Replacement
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Disconnect the connector, unscrew the screws (indicated by arrows) and remove the sensor.
