Replacing the crosspiece bearing [Toyota Dyna Y50]

1. (Dyna 150) Disconnect the yoke from the driveshaft.

a) Apply marks to the fork and cardan shaft.

b) Disconnect the fork from the shaft.



2. Mark the fork and flange.



3. Remove the retaining rings.

a) Lightly tap the outer bearing rings.

b) Using two screwdrivers, remove the four retaining rings one by one from their corresponding grooves.



4. Press the crosspiece bearings out of the fork.



5. Install new crosspiece bearings.

a) Apply grease as shown in the figure.

Recommendation: Do not apply too much grease.

b) Align the marks on the fork and flange.

Note: (Dyna 150) After installing the crosspiece, ensure the grease fittings are positioned as shown.


c) Install the bearings on the crosspiece.

d) Adjust both bearings so that the grooves for the retaining rings have maximum and equal width.





6. Install the retaining rings.



a) Install two retaining rings of equal thickness, which will allow an axial clearance of 0 - 0.05 mm.

Recommendation: Do not reuse snap rings.




b) Using a hammer, tap the fork lightly until the gap between the outer bearing ring and the retaining ring is eliminated.



7. Checking the crosspiece bearing.

a) Make sure the cross bearing moves smoothly.

b) Check the amount of axial play of the crosspiece bearing.
  • Axial clearance - less than 0.05 mm

Recommendation: installation of new crosspiece bearings should be carried out from the shaft side in accordance with the method described above.




8. (Dyna 150) Insert the fork into the driveshaft.



a) Apply MP type grease to the contact area between the fork and shaft.

b) Align the marks on the fork and the cardan shaft.

c) Insert the fork into the cardan shaft.

9. Install the grease fittings.
