Note: The automatic transmission type is stamped on the aluminum plate. located in the engine compartment, in the line marked TRANS / AXLE.
To control the automatic transmission, a selector is installed on the center console, to the side of the driver. The selector is connected to the valve block by a cable, and with it you can set the range of gears used. To prevent damage to the automatic transmission if the range is incorrectly selected (for example, moving from "D" V "R" when moving forward) a lock is installed on the selector, only when pressed, it is possible "dangerous" switching. The latch allows you to avoid the situation when, through negligence, one of the invalid ranges of motion can be turned on.
The figure shows the correct gearshift pattern.
Attention: If you always make shifts with the button pressed, then there is a danger of inadvertently putting the lever in positions "R", "R", "L". Learn how to properly switch the lever to the positions indicated by the black arrow in the figure.
Black arrow - moving the lever without pressing the latch; white arrow - translation of the lever with the lock pressed; the shaded arrow is the shift of the lever with the detent pressed and the brake pedal depressed.
Note: if the ignition switch is in the ACC or LOCK position, then even if you press the brake pedal, it is impossible to move the lever from the position "R". The lever may also not be translated from the position "R", if, while holding the latch pressed down, press the brake pedal. First press the brake pedal, and then start shifting.
When the battery is discharged or disconnected, the selector is locked in position "R" There is a special red button to unlock (located near the selector).
The selector has six positions: "R", "N", "R", "D", "2" And "L".
Position "R"
It is selected when the car is parked for a long time. In this position of the range selection lever in the box, all controls are turned off, and its output shaft is blocked: the vehicle cannot move. It is only possible to move the lever to this position at a complete stop. Moving the lever into position "R" while driving will damage the transmission.
Position "R"
Reverse. The range select lever can only be moved to this position when the vehicle is stationary. Moving the lever to position "R" while moving forward, it can lead to failure of the gearbox and other transmission components.
Position "N"
Corresponds to neutral. In the gearbox, all controls are turned off, which ensures that there is no rigid kinematic connection between its drive and driven shafts. In this case, the output shaft blocking mechanism is disabled, i.e. the car can move freely. It is not recommended to move the range select lever to the position "N" while coasting (by inertia). Never turn off the ignition when driving downhill. This practice is dangerous because it could cause you to lose control of the vehicle.
Position "D"
Basic driving mode. It provides automatic shifting from first to fourth gear (Automatic transmission - A132L - third gear). In normal driving conditions, it is recommended to use it.
Position "2"
Driving is allowed only in first and second gears. Recommended for use, for example, on winding mountain roads. Switching to third and fourth gears is prohibited. In this range, the engine braking mode is effectively used.
Position "L"
Driving is allowed only in first gear. This range allows maximum implementation of the engine braking mode. It is recommended when driving on steep descents, climbs and off-road.
Mode "OD" (except automatic transmission A132L)
Permission to use the fourth, overdrive, gear is carried out using a special button "OD", located on the selector. If it is in the recessed position and the range select lever is in the "D", then upshifting is allowed. Otherwise, the inclusion of the fourth overdrive is prohibited. The state of the control system in this case is reflected using the indicator "O/D OFF". If the use of overdrive is enabled, the indicator is off, and when it is disabled, it lights up. This mode is used when driving at high speed on highways. If possible, do not use this mode in the city, especially on a winter road - this excludes overdrive from work and allows you to more efficiently use the engine braking mode. Do not turn on the O / D mode when the car is fully loaded. If frequent shifts 3-4 occur, in order to prevent increased wear of parts of the automatic transmission, turn off the O / D mode.
Management programs
There are three programs in the control system "economical", "sports" - "PWR" and manual control program - "MANU" The choice of the control program is carried out by the buttons located near the selector.
"economical" program
The program is tuned to ensure movement with minimal fuel consumption (switches "PWR" And "MANU" must be pressed (raised)) In this case, upshifts occur approximately when the engine speed reaches the average values, which corresponds to the minimum fuel consumption. The movement of the car in this case is smooth, calm
"Sports" program "PWR"
This program is set to maximize the use of engine power. Therefore, upshifts occur in the region of maximum engine speed, at which the engine develops maximum power.
In this case, the car accelerates with much higher accelerations. Use this program also when driving on mountain roads.
If this program is selected (button pressed "PWR"), then the indicator on the instrument cluster lights up "ECT-S PWR"
Program "MANU"
The switch is used to enable this program "MANU". If this program is selected, the indicator in the instrument cluster lights up "ECT-S MANU".
The program is designed to facilitate winter driving and provides the ability to forcibly fix the selected gear. During the operation of this program, all automatic gear changes are prohibited.
Translation of the selector into position "D" corresponds to the inclusion of the fourth gear (when the button is pressed "O/D"), with the button pressed "O/D" corresponds to the inclusion of the third gear.
Translation of the selector into position "2" - second gear. When the program is on, starting off occurs from the second gear (to reduce the chance of wheel spin), then the selected gear is fixed and a further change in speed does not lead to gear shifting (except for reducing the speed to values close to a stop), which allows you to use the engine braking mode on slippery roads and avoid unnecessary switching.
Indicator "A/T OIL TEMP" (increased temperature of the automatic transmission fluid)
The gearbox control unit monitors the temperature of the working fluid using the appropriate sensor. The fluid temperature may become excessively high when the vehicle is operated under heavy load, such as when driving in sand, deep snow, or uphill. If the temperature rises above the nominal level, the control unit turns on the indicator located on the instrument cluster.
Indicator location "A/T OIL TEMP".
The indicator goes out when the temperature drops to the nominal level.
