Starter with planetary gearbox (2.2 kW) (2C-T): 1 - traction relay; 2 - return spring; 3 - core; 4 - drive lever; 5 - retaining ring; 6 - drive side cover; 7 - limiting sleeve; 8 - overrunning clutch; B - complete carrier; 10 - armature plate; II - anchor; 12 - starter housing; 13 - brush spring; 14 - brush holder; 15 - washer; 16 - cover from the collector side; 17 - washer; 16 - thrust washer; 19 - retainer




Starter 2.2 kW (2C; 2S-T). 1 - starter housing (stator): 2 - O-ring seal; 3 - front bearing; 4 - anchor; 5 - rear bearing; 6 - brush holder; 7 - overrunning clutch assembly; 8 - steel ball; 9 - return spring; 10 - traction relay; 11 - anther; 12 - wiring output; 13 - bearing; 14 - intermediate gear; 15 - drive gear; 16 - starter cover on the drive side




1. Remove the traction relay.
  • a) Unscrew the nut and disconnect the wiring harness from terminal "C".
  • b) Unscrew 3 screws, remove the traction relay and return spring.


  • c) Pull out the core.



2. Loosen the two tie bolts and pull out the housing together with the anchor.

3. Remove the cover from the manifold side.
  • a) Unscrew the two screws and remove the cover from the manifold side.
  • b) Using a flat feeler gauge, measure the axial clearance between the retainer and the cover. Nominal clearance: 0.3 mm. Maximum allowable clearance: 0.5 mm. If the clearance exceeds the maximum allowable value, replace the thrust washer.
  • c) Remove the retainer, thrust washer, manifold side cover and washer.

4. Remove the armature from the starter housing and remove 4 brush holders and 4 brush springs.



5. Remove the anchor plate.



6. Remove the planet carrier assembly and the overrunning clutch, having first removed the rubber shock absorber.



7. Disconnect the drive lever from the overrunning clutch.

8. Remove the overrunning clutch from the shaft.
  • a) Using a screwdriver, move the limiting sleeve towards the overrunning clutch.


  • b) Use a screwdriver to remove the retaining ring.
  • c) Remove the limiter sleeve and overrunning clutch.
