Removing the water pump
1. Drain the coolant (see relevant paragraph).
2. Remove drive belts.
3. Remove fan, fluid coupling and water pump pulley. Remove the four nuts securing the fluid coupling to the pulley, then remove the fan, fluid coupling assembly and pulley.
4. Remove the crankshaft pulley and timing belt cover No. 1 (see chapter "Mechanical").
5. Using needle nose pliers, remove the timing belt tension spring.
6. Remove the water pump.
Remove six bolts, tension spring bracket, water pump and gasket.
Condition monitoring and repair of water pump components
Check the water pump.
Turning the pulley, check the smoothness and noiselessness of the movement of the water pump bearings. If necessary, replace the water pump.
2. Check the viscous coupling for damage and silicone oil leakage. If necessary, replace fluid coupling.
3. Replace pulley support.
A) Using the special tool and a press, press the shaft out of the bearing and remove the pulley support.
b) Using the special tool and a press, press the shaft out of the bearing and install a new pulley support 76.5 - 77.5 mm between the pulley support and the pump housing.
Water pump installation
1. Install the water pump.
Install a new gasket, water pump and tension spring bracket with six bolts.
- Tightening torque - 23 Nm
2. Using needle nose pliers, install the timing belt tension spring.
3. Install the front timing belt cover and crankshaft pulley (see related section).
4. Install water pump pulley, fluid coupling and fan.
5. Install drive belts.
6. Fill engine coolant (see relevant paragraph).
7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
