Removal the water pump



1. Drain the coolant (see the relevant paragraph).

2. Remove the drive belts.

3. Remove the fan, fluid coupling and water pump pulley. Remove the four nuts securing the fluid coupling to the pulley, then remove the fan, fluid coupling assembly and pulley.



4. Remove the crankshaft pulley and timing belt cover No.1 (see chapter "Mechanical part").

5. Using needle-nose pliers, remove the timing belt tension spring.



6. Remove the water pump.

Remove the six bolts, tension spring bracket, water pump and gasket.






Checking the condition and repairing the components of the water pump



Check the water pump.

Turn the pulley to check the water pump bearings for smooth and quiet movement. Replace the water pump if necessary.



2. Check the viscous coupling for damage and silicone oil leakage. Replace the fluid coupling if necessary.



3. Replace the pulley support.

a) Using a special tool and a press, press the shaft out of the bearing and remove the pulley support.



b) Using a special tool and a press, press the shaft out of the bearing and install a new pulley support at a distance of 76.5 - 77.5 mm between the pulley support and the pump body.





Installing a water pump



1. Install the water pump.

Install the new gasket, water pump and tension spring bracket with six bolts.
  • Tightening torque - 23 Nm



2. Using needle-nose pliers, install the timing belt tension spring.



3. Install the front timing belt cover and crankshaft pulley (see the relevant section).

4. Install the water pump pulley, fluid coupling and fan.



5. Install the drive belts.

6. Fill the engine coolant (see the relevant paragraph).

7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
