Removal and installation the water pump [Toyota Carina T170]

Removal and installation of the water pump is explained in Figure 316. In addition to the toothed belt, it is also necessary to remove the high-pressure fuel pump to provide access to the water pump. The following work must be performed:

Drain the liquid from the cooling system
Remove the high pressure fuel pump as described below.
Remove the middle timing belt cover.
Unscrew the water pump. It is fastened with 7 bolts. Pay attention to the location of the bolts, as they have different lengths. Remove the gasket.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. It is necessary to install a new gasket. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 18 Nm.
The fuel pump and toothed belt are installed as described in the relevant chapters. Adjust the tension of the alternator V-belt and fill the cooling system with fluid.
