Removal



Disconnect the ground (-) cable from the battery.

Attention: This erases the entry in the on-board computer memory. In particular, the entry of faults and the radio receiver code. Before disconnecting the battery, it is necessary to read the contents of the section "Removal and installation the battery".


Mark the position of the wiper on the glass with adhesive tape so that the arms can be installed in the same position later.

Unscrew the lever mounting screws and remove the levers from the axles. First remove the axle covers with a small screwdriver.



Windscreen cleaner. Loosen the screws at the bottom edge of the windscreen and remove it.



Rear window cleaner. Remove the tailgate trim. For cars produced before 4/87, push the latch inserts inward.



Disconnect the plug connection of the wiper motor.

Windscreen cleaner



Disconnect the electric motor from the drive bracket. To do this, unscrew the three screws.

Disconnect and remove the drive levers, see Fig. G-6004.

Rear window cleaner



Loosen the wiper shaft union nut.

Unscrew the three screws securing the electric motor and remove it.

Installation



If a new wiper drive electric motor is installed, first bring it to the position corresponding to the extreme position of the wiper blade. To do this, connect the plug, turn on the electric motor and let it run for 1 minute. Then turn off the electric motor, leaving the wiper in the extreme position. Disconnect the plug connection.

Windscreen cleaner



Install the drive bracket and tighten it to 10 Nm.

Connect the plug connection. Turn on the electric motor by setting the lever to the extreme position.

Install the drive hoses.

Secure the electric motor with screws.

Install the wind deflector and secure it with screws.

Place the wiper arms in the extreme position on the support and secure with a force of 20 Nm.

Rear window cleaner



Install and secure the tailgate electric motor.

Screw the union nuts onto the wiper shafts.

Connect the plug connection and bring the electric motor to the stop position.

Set the wiper arm so that in its extreme position it is parallel to the lower edge of the glass.



Install the covers on the wiper shafts.

Connect the ground (-) cable to the battery.

Check the operation of the cleaner.



Install the rear door trim of vehicles produced up to 4/87 into place and press in the insert latches.

Set the time on the clock, if there is one. Enter the code into the radio receiver.
