- Hydrometer available commercially or at gas stations.
Before the start of the winter season, it is necessary to check the concentration of antifreeze. Especially in the case when water was poured into the system.
Start and warm up the engine until the top radiator hose is warm.
Open cap on expansion tank.
Suck off the coolant with a hydrometer and use the float to determine the density of the liquid. Antifreeze must protect the system from freezing in the latitudes of Germany to a temperature of -30°C. In very cold climates - up to -40°C.
Cooling Concentrate Additive
In the German latitudes, the cooling system must be protected from freezing down to -30°C. The ratios of the components in the coolant recommended by the manufacturer must be observed.
Caution: Use only genuine TOYOTA coolant or ethylene glycol coolant with anti-corrosion properties. The coolant concentrate must be compatible with the elements of the cooling system made of light alloys. Alcohol-based coolants must not be used.
Close the cap on the expansion tank of the cooling system and check the antifreeze content again after a test drive.
