Note: replace the working fluid every 25,000 - 40,000 km, depending on the operating conditions.
1. Unscrew the drain plug and drain the working fluid.
2. (Only for A540H) In addition to the automatic transmission pan drain plug in the final drive housing (front and center differentials) there is another drain plug. It is located horizontally Depending on the modification, the main gear may contain either automatic transmission fluid (DEXRON III or type T) or gear oil GL-5 SAE 75W-90. When draining fluid from the final drive housing, pay attention to its color, smell and quantity. This will determine the type of fluid in the final drive.
If you determine that the automatic transmission fluid has been drained (in this case, the automatic transmission and the main gear have a common lubrication - from the platform at the top of the automatic transmission crankcase there is a tube with a diameter of about 10 mm to main gear), then close the cap and go to step 3.
If the gear oil is drained (in this case, the lubrication of the automatic transmission and the main gear is separate - there is no tube from the platform at the top of the automatic transmission crankcase to the main gear), then wrap the plug and fill in the oil as much as was drained (about 2 l) through the hole for the speedometer cable or, if there is none, through the hole for the speed sensor.
Location of transmission drain plugs; 1 - main gear housing of the front differential, 2 - transfer case. 3 - automatic transmission.
3. Install a new automatic transmission pan gasket and tighten the automatic transmission drain plug.
4. Pour in fresh fluid through the filler pipe to the lower range mark "COOL" (cold).
Working fluid:
- A240E, A241E, A241L - DEXRONII or DEXRON III
- A245E, A540H - Type T-III or equivalent
Note If it is not possible to fill in the working fluid type T, then the use of DEXRON III is acceptable.
- Volume of liquid to be filled (A241L):
- IN "dry"Gearbox - 7.7l
- When replacing - 3.1 l
- Volume of liquid to be filled (A240E and A241E until 1996):
- IN "dry" checkpoint (4A-FE) - 7.2 p
- IN "dry" checkpoint (3S-FE) — 8.0 l
- When replacing - 3.1 l
- Volume of liquid to be filled (A 241 EU 1996):
- IN "dry" Gearbox - 7.6 p
- When replacing - 3.1 p
- Volume of liquid to be filled (A245E):
- IN "dry" Gearbox - 8.0 l
- When replacing - 3.3 p
- Volume of liquid to be filled (A 132L):
- IN "dry"Gearbox - 5.5 l
- When replacing - 2.5 l
- Volume of liquid to be filled (A540N):
- IN "dry"Gearbox -7.0 l
- When replacing - 3.3 l
5. Start the engine at idle and move the selector to all positions from "R" before "L" and back to position "R".
6. While the engine is running at idle, check the fluid level. Add fluid to the level "COOL" on the probe.
7. Check fluid level at normal operating temperature (70-80°C) and top up if necessary.
Note: Do not overfill above the set level.
