Note: replace the working fluid every 25,000-40,000 km depending on operating conditions.
1. Unscrew the drain plug and drain the working fluid.
A540N
Except A540H
2. (Only for A540H) In addition to the drain plug of the automatic transmission pan in the main gear housing (front and center differentials) there is another drain plug. It is located horizontally. Depending on the modification, the main gear may contain either the automatic transmission fluid (DEXRON 111 or type T) or GL-5 SAE 75W-90 transmission oil. When draining the fluid from the main gear housing, pay attention to its color, smell and quantity. This will help determine the type of fluid in the main gear.
If you have determined that the automatic transmission fluid has been drained (in this case, the automatic transmission and the main gear have a common lubrication - a tube with a diameter of about 10 mm goes from the platform on top of the automatic transmission housing to the main gear), then tighten the cap and proceed to step 3.
If the transmission oil is drained (in this case, the automatic transmission and final drive lubrication are separate - there is no tube from the platform on top of the automatic transmission housing to the final drive), then tighten the plug and pour in as much oil as you drained (about 2 l) through the hole for the speedometer cable or; if it is not available, through the speed sensor hole.
Transmission drain plug locations:
1 - housing of the main transmission of the front differential,
2 - transfer case,
3 - Automatic transmission.
3. Install a new transmission pan gasket and tighten the transmission drain plug.
Tightening torque:
- A241L, A241E, A245E - 18 Nm
- A540N - 50 Nm
Note: Replace the automatic transmission filter (or its rinsing, if possible) at each change of the working fluid (see chapter "Automatic transmission").
4. Fill with fresh working fluid through the filler tube to the lower mark of the "COOL" range. Working fluid type:
The original publication can be found on the website (www.toyotaman.ru)
- A241L, A245E, A241E — DEXRON III
- A540H - Toyota Type T or equivalent
Note:
- if it is not possible to fill in the working fluid type T, then it is permissible to use DEXRON III.
- castrol Transmax Z working fluid is an analogue of Toyota TYPE T working fluid.
Volume of liquid to be poured:
- A241L — 7.7 l
- A245E - 7.6 l
- A241E - 8.0 l
- A540N - 7.0 l
5. Start the engine at idle speed and move the selector lever to all positions from "P" to "L" and back to the "P" position.
6. With the engine idling, check the fluid level. Add fluid to the "COOL" level on the dipstick.
7. Check the fluid level at normal operating temperature (70-80°C) and top up if necessary.
Note: Do not overfill above the specified level.
