Note: On 5E-FE engines, the idle air control valve function is performed by the auxiliary air valve.
Placement on the engine: 1 - throttle body, 2 - idle speed control valve
Check on the engine
1. Check valve operation.
- A) Initial conditions.
- the engine is warmed up to normal operating temperature.
- idle speed is correctly adjusted.
- the shift lever or automatic transmission selector is in the neutral position.
- b) Use a jumper wire to short the TEG and "EG diagnostic connector.
- V) Start the engine and check that after the speed has been held at 900-1500 rpm for 5 seconds, it has again decreased to the level of the rated idle speed. If not, check for slack in the throttle cable, idle speed control valve, wiring, and ECM.
- G) Remove the jumper from the diagnostic socket.
- d) Check idle speed.
2. Check the resistance of the valve winding.
- A) Disconnect the valve connector.
- b) Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminal "+V" and conclusions "RSC", "RSO" ("ISCC", "ISCO") connector.
Rated resistance value (at 20°C): 19.3-22.3 ohms.
If the resistance value is out of range, replace the valve.
3S-FE. 4S-FE | 3S-GE, 4A-FE, 7A-FE |
- V) Connect the valve connector.
Valve removal
1. Remove the throttle body.
2. Remove the valve of the idle speed control system together with the gasket by unscrewing the four screws.
3S-FE, 4A-FE, 4S-FE, 7A-FE | 3S-GE |
Application: When installing, use a new gasket.
Valve check
1. Connect the connecting wire from the positive (+) battery terminals to the +V terminal, and (-) connecting wire to outlet "RSC" ("ISCC") valve connector and check that the valve actuator is closed.
2. Connect the connecting wire from the positive (+) battery terminals to the +V terminal, and (-) connecting wire to outlet "RSC" ("ISCO") valve connector and check that the valve actuator is open.
If the valve function is not as described, flush the valve first and repeat the test procedures. If necessary, disassemble the valve and eliminate the cause of the jam, otherwise replace the valve.
Valve installation
1. Install the idle speed control valve.
- A) Install a new gasket to the throttle body.
- b) Install the valve and tighten it with 4 screws.

2. Install the throttle body (see above "Throttle body installation").
