Note: On 5E-FE engines, the function of the idle speed control valve is performed by the auxiliary air supply valve.
Placement on engine: 1 - throttle body, 2 - idle speed control valve
Checking on the engine
1. Check the operation of the valve.
- a) Initial conditions.
- the engine is warmed up to normal operating temperature.
- the idle speed is adjusted correctly.
- the gear shift lever or automatic transmission selector is in neutral position.
- b) Use a jumper to short-circuit the terminals "TE1" and "E1" of the diagnostic connector.

- c) Start the engine and make sure that after the speed has been maintained at 900-1500 rpm for 5 seconds, it has dropped back to the rated idle speed. Otherwise, check the accelerator drive cable, the idle speed control valve, the wiring, and the electronic control unit for any slack.
- d) Remove the jumper from the diagnostic connector.
- d) Check the idle speed.
2. Check the resistance of the valve winding.
- a) Disconnect the valve connector.
- b) Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the "+B" terminal and the terminals "RSC", "RSO" ("ISCC", "ISCO") connector.
Nominal resistance value (at 20°C): 19.3-22.3 Ohm.
If the resistance value is outside the specified range, replace the valve.

- c) Connect the valve connector.
Removal the valve
1. Remove the throttle body.
2. Remove the idle speed control valve together with the gasket by unscrewing the four screws.

Application: Use a new gasket when installing.
Checking the valve
1. Connect the jumper wire from the positive (+) terminal of the battery to the +B terminal, and the (-) jumper wire to the terminal "RSC" ("ISCC") valve connector and make sure that the valve actuator is closed.

2. Connect the jumper wire from the positive (+) terminal of the battery to the +B terminal, and the (-) jumper wire to the terminal "RSC" ("ISCO") valve connector and make sure that the valve actuator is open.

If the valve operation differs from the description, first flush the valve and repeat the testing procedures. If necessary, disassemble the valve and eliminate the cause of jamming, otherwise replace the valve.
Installing the valve
1. Install the idle speed control valve.
- a) Install a new gasket onto the throttle body.

- b) Install the valve and tighten it with 4 screws.

2. Install the throttle body (see above "Installing the throttle body").
