Air for heating is sucked in through the grille under the windshield of the car and supplied by the fan into the passenger compartment. In this case, the air, passing through the heater casing and through the flaps, is distributed to individual nozzles. If the heater control lever is set to the "warm" position, then the cold air is heated in the radiator. The radiator is located in the heater casing and receives heat from the engine coolant. The air passing through the radiator is heated by contact with the hot plates and enters the passenger compartment. The air temperature is regulated by the supply of coolant to the radiator of the heater casing by a valve. The heater valve is located in the engine compartment.

The supply of hot air is regulated by a four-stage heating fan. The fan speed at each stage is regulated by ballast resistors. The resistors are attached to the heater casing through a connecting plate. If there is a malfunction, the plate is replaced as a set. The heater casing and fan are located in the passenger compartment under the dashboard.

Special version with air conditioning

With the help of the air conditioner, the temperature of the air in the cabin can be reduced. At the same time, the humidity in the cabin is reduced. The air conditioner compressor is driven by the engine via a V-belt. Repair of the air conditioner must be carried out in a specialized workshop. The V-belt of the compressor drive must be checked during routine maintenance. See the section "Maintenance".
