Removing
Set the front wheels straight.
Disconnect ground cable (-) from the battery.
Attention: This erases the entries in the fault memory and the radio code. Before disconnecting the battery, read the contents of the section «Removing and installing the battery».
Cars up to 4/87 of release. Using a small screwdriver, remove the cover in the center of the steering wheel.
Cars from 5/87 release. Loosen the two screws on the back of the steering wheel (steering wheel with three spokes - 1 bolt). Remove cover.
Loosen the steering wheel bolt using a wrench and extension.
Remove the steering wheel from the shaft using a puller. To do this, screw the two puller bolts on the left and right into the threaded holes in the steering wheel.
Installation
Check that the turn signal switch is in the middle position, otherwise the cam may be damaged when the steering wheel is removed.
Install the steering wheel on the shaft so that the spokes are horizontal.
Tighten the steering wheel bolt to 35 Nm.
Connect ground cable (-) to the battery. Check the operation of the sound signal.
Make a test drive. Check the correct position of the steering wheel when driving straight. In this case, the spokes of the steering wheel must be in a horizontal position. Otherwise, rearrange the steering wheel.
Check the automatic return of the turn signal switch.
Set the clock, if available, and enter the radio's security code.
