Removal



Set the front wheels straight.

Disconnect the ground (-) cable from the battery.

Caution: This will erase the fault memory entries and the radio receiver code. Before disconnecting the battery, read the section "Removal and installation the battery".




Cars up to 4/87: Using a small screwdriver, remove the cover in the center of the steering wheel.

Cars from 5/87. On the back of the steering wheel, unscrew the two bolts, (three spoke steering wheel - 1 bolt). Remove the cover.



Remove the steering wheel mounting bolt using a wrench and extension.



Remove the steering wheel from the shaft using a puller. To do this, screw the two puller bolts on the left and right into the threaded holes of the steering wheel.

Installation



Check that the turn signal switch is in the center position, otherwise the cam may be damaged when removing the steering wheel.

Install the steering wheel on the shaft in such a way that the spokes are horizontal.

Tighten the steering wheel mounting bolt to 35 Nm.

Connect the ground (-) cable to the battery. Check the operation of the horn.

Make a test drive. Check the correct position of the steering wheel when driving straight ahead. The spokes of the steering wheel should be horizontal. Otherwise, move the steering wheel.

Check the automatic return of the turn signal switch.

Set the time on the clock, if you have one, and enter the radio security code.
