The thermometer shows the engine coolant temperature when the ignition is on. The engine operating temperature varies depending on weather conditions and load.
The engine may overheat under the following operating conditions:
- 1. A trip to the mountains on a very hot day
- 2. Slowing down or stopping after driving at high speed for a long time.
- 3. Continuous idling or driving in traffic jams with the air conditioner on.
- 4. Towing a trailer.
- 5. Driving slowly in high gear.
Do not remove the cooling system thermostat under any circumstances, as this may cause the engine to overheat. The thermostat is adjusted to maintain the engine temperature in a specified range by regulating the circulation of the coolant.
