Attention: Do not apply too much sealant, especially around the oil holes. Within a quarter of an hour after applying the sealant, the nodes must be connected. If this time is exceeded, the sealant must be removed and reapplied.
Removing
Disconnect the earth cable from the battery.
Attention: This erases the record in the computer's memory, in particular the fault record and the radio code. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in section "Removing and installing the battery".**
Place the car on a lift.
Drain engine oil.
Engine displacement 1.3 l from 8/84 and 1.6 l: Disconnect front pipe exhaust system. Lower the exhaust system and hang it on a wire to the body.
If there is an oil cooler, disconnect the oil hose from it.
Unscrew the fixing bolts and nuts of the oil pan.
Knock out the sealant between the cylinder block and the oil pan.
TOYOTA specialist workshops use the special tool SST 09032-00100 for this. For this purpose, an old knife, with which the sealant is used, can also be used. using a hammer, it is knocked out of the gap between the cylinder block and the oil pan.
Caution: When removing the oil pan, be careful not to damage the mating surfaces of the oil pan and cylinder block.
Remove the oil pan.
Installation
Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the oil pan and cylinder block from the remnants of the old sealant with a triangular scraper and a razor.
Thoroughly wipe the cylinder block, crankshaft drive pulley and oil pump. Oil pan sealant can be damaged by dripping oil.
Wipe and dry the mating surfaces of the oil pan and cylinder block with a solvent, which can be alcohol or acetone.
Caution: Do not use solvents that damage painted surfaces.
