Removing
Place the car on a lift.
Spray all bolts and nuts of the exhaust system with a rust-dissolving agent and leave for a while.
Dismantle the flange connection of the rear muffler and move it back (see Fig. R-2006).
Remove the rear muffler from the rubber pads.
Loosen the muffler resonator pipe mounting bolts and remove it.
1.6 liter engine with catalytic converter: Unscrew the oxygen sensor from the pipe upstream of the catalytic converter. Disconnect plug connection first.
Attention: Do not subject the catalyst to shocks and impacts during dismantling and installation.
Disconnect intake pipe from exhaust pipe (collector).
Installation
Attention: To facilitate the subsequent disassembly of the exhaust system, it is recommended to coat the joints with high-temperature paste, for example, Liqui Moly LM-508-ASC, before assembly.
If used exhaust pipes are used, they must be cleaned with sandpaper before assembly.
Attention: Part of the exhaust system before the catalyst requires special tightness. Therefore, when assembling this part, do not use old seals.
Attach the downpipe to the exhaust pipe and tighten the new nuts evenly without tightening them.
Connect exhaust pipe and muffler together.
Before tightening the bolted connections, align the elements of the exhaust system in the supports. Make sure that the distance between the elements of the system and the bottom of the vehicle is at least 25 mm.
Tighten connecting flanges (M8 bolts).
Attention: Do not overtighten the connection bolts. This can lead to the extrusion of gaskets and a violation of the tightness of the system.
Reinstall the oxygen sensor if removed. Connect the plug connection.
Take the car off the lift.
