Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Removal the air filter assembly
Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector and wiring harness.
Remove the air cleaner cover with the air cleaner hose.
Remove the air filter element.

Remove 3 bolts and air filter housing (fig. 2.534).
Removal the fuel filter assembly

Disconnect 2 fuel hoses from the fuel filter.
Disconnect 2 connectors.
Remove 2 bolts, then remove the fuel filter.
Fuel drain
Remove the drain plug, then drain the fuel from the fuel filter.

Removal the water presence sensor in the fuel filter
Secure the fuel filter in a vice with soft jaws.

Use needle-nose pliers to remove the fuel filter water presence sensor (fig. 2.536).
Note: Be careful not to damage the water in fuel filter sensor.
Removal the fuel filter element

Using SST, remove the fuel filter element (fig. 2.537).
Installing the fuel filter element
Check and clean the fuel filter housing where the filter element is installed.
Lubricate the gasket of the new fuel filter element with fuel.
Carefully screw the fuel filter element onto the fitting, then tighten it until the gasket is properly seated in its seat.

Tighten manually by 3/4 turn (fig. 2.538).
Installing a water presence sensor in the fuel filter
Install a new sealing ring onto the fuel filter water presence sensor.
Lubricate the water presence sensor O-ring with fuel.
Install the water presence sensor into the fuel filter and tighten it by hand.
Installing the fuel filter assembly
Install the fuel filter and secure with 2 bolts.
Tightening torque: 18 Nm.
Connect 2 connectors.
Connect 2 fuel hoses to the fuel filter.
Install the air filter assembly.
Tightening torque: 7.0 Nm.
Connect the negative terminal to the battery terminal.
Tightening torque: 5.4 Nm.
Fill with fuel.
Press the pump lever several times until resistance is felt to fill the filter with fuel.
Check for fuel leaks.
