
2. Remove the camshaft.
a) Turn the camshaft so that the camshaft keyway faces upward.

b) Uniformly loosen and remove the ten bearing cap bolts in several passes, each in the sequence shown in the illustration.

c) Remove the five bearing caps and the camshaft.
d) Remove ten liners from the bearing caps and from the cylinder head.
Note: Place bearing caps and shells in correct order.

3. Remove the tappets with adjusting washers.

Note: Arrange the lifters in the order of removal.

4. Remove the valves.
a) Using the special tool, compress the valve spring and remove the two crackers.
b) Remove the spring plate, valve spring and spring seat.

Note: Arrange the removed parts into sets.

c) Remove the oil seals.

5. Remove the 4 combustion chambers and adjusting shims using the special tool.

Note: Position the combustion chambers (and gaskets) in the order of their removal.
