Rechargeable battery [Toyota Carina T170]

A 12V battery has six cells consisting of positive and negative plates immersed in a sulfuric acid solution. The battery provides energy when starting the engine, the ignition system, and the car's lighting system, as well as other consumers. To ensure a long service life of the battery and maintain its power at a high level, the following work should be carried out:

• Keep the battery and its surrounding parts clean. The surface of the battery must always be dry, otherwise leakage currents occur between individual cells, which causes self-discharge of the battery.
• The electrolyte level should be at the level of the ring and the bottom of the filling space. Use distilled water for topping up.

In cold weather, do not store the battery in a discharged state, otherwise it will freeze. Weakly charged batteries freeze earlier than charged ones.
