Note:
- - malfunctions occurring in the gearbox may be related either to the engine, or to the control system, or to the gearbox itself. Therefore, before starting the check, it is necessary to determine the area of their occurrence.
- - troubleshooting should begin with the simplest operations and continue in order of increasing complexity.
1. A241E, A245E and A540N.
Check for fault codes.
2. Perform tire pressure checks and other preliminary checks.
3. Check the gear shifting. Check the electrical part of the control system if the shifting is normal.
4. Perform the following checks:
a) Checking the engine and torque converter with the vehicle fully braked.
b) Road test. Make sure that the fault is in the gearbox itself. If there is noise or vibration, possible sources could be the engine, drive shafts, tires, etc.
c) Hydraulic tests. Measure the pressure in the lines and perform a general check of the fluid supply circuits.
d) Checking the gear engagement time. Check the wear of the gearbox parts (locking clutches, brakes and planetary gears).
