Checking and adjusting the automatic transmission control rod [Toyota Carina T190]

1. When moving the selector from the "N" position to other positions, it should move freely, and the indicator should correctly indicate the selected position. If the indicator incorrectly shows the selected position, then perform the adjustment.

2. Remove the lower engine guard and loosen the nut on the control rod.



2. Move the ignition inhibit switch lever all the way to the right side of the vehicle.

3. Return the starter inhibit switch lever two notches to the "N" position.





4. Set the selector to the "N" position.

5. While pressing the lever towards the "R" position, tighten the shift control rod nut.
