Removing
The diesel coolant pump is driven by a toothed belt.
Disconnect ground cable (-) from the battery.
Attention: As a result, the records of the on-board computer are erased, in particular, the fault records and the radio code. Before disconnecting the battery, read the contents of the section "Removing and installing the battery".
Drain the coolant into a container.
Remove toothed belt cover and loosen belt.
Remove the coolant pump mounting bolts. Remove the pump from the cylinder block.
Installation
Clean the mating surfaces on the cylinder block and coolant pump first with a scraper, then wipe with a dry rag to remove any gasket residue.
Carefully reinstall the new pump with a new gasket. Do not over tighten the bolts. Tightening force 18 Nm. On fig. G-1814 shows bolt lengths.
Put on the toothed belt and tighten it.
Pour coolant into the system.
Connect ground cable (-) to the battery.
Set the time on the clock, if any. Enter the security code into the radio.
Start the engine and warm it up. Park the vehicle above a dry surface and check the cooling system for leaks.
