Removal
The diesel coolant pump is driven by a toothed belt.
Disconnect the ground (-) cable from the battery.
Warning: This will erase the on-board computer records, in particular the fault records and the radio receiver code. Before disconnecting the battery, please read the section "Removal and installation the battery".
Drain the coolant into a container.
Remove the timing belt cover and loosen the belt.

Loosen the coolant pump mounting bolts. Remove the pump from the cylinder block.
Installation
Clean the mating surfaces on the cylinder block and coolant pump first with a scraper, then wipe with a dry cloth, removing any remaining sealing gasket.

Carefully install the new pump with a new gasket. Do not tighten the bolts too much. Tightening torque 18 Nm. Fig. G-1814 shows the bolt lengths.
Put on the timing belt and tighten it.
Fill the system with coolant.
Connect the ground (-) cable to the battery.
Set the time on the clock, if there is one. Enter the security code into the radio.
Start the engine and warm it up. Park the car on a dry surface and check the cooling system for leaks.
