The electric window lifter drive on the new model includes an ECU and two Hall sensors. The ECU controls the window lifters, and the two Hall sensors determine the position of the glass and the direction of rotation of the electric motor. When the key is removed from the ignition switch, the system is controlled by the body ECU.

The function of soft stop of glass has been introduced. If the automatic control mode of the window lifter is enabled, this function reduces the speed of movement of the glass when approaching the fully open or fully closed position.

Table 1.22. Purpose of the main components of the windshield washer and wiper system

The new Corolla Verso is equipped with a power window system, which includes the equipment listed in Table 1.23.

Electric window lifters

Fig. 1.55. Electric window lifter drive

The electric window lift drive includes an ECU, two Hall sensors and an electric motor. If the main window lift switch or the window lift control switch sends an "AUTO-UP" or "AUTO-DOWN" signal, the ECU switches on the drive electric motor. Two Hall sensors are installed on the worm gear. The Hall sensor converts changes in the magnetic flux that occur when the worm wheel rotates into pulse signals and sends them to the electric window lift ECU (Fig. 1.55).

Fig. 1.56. Determining the amount of movement and the moment of blocking the glass by a foreign object

To control the safety function, the electric window lifter ECU determines the amount of movement and the moment the glass is blocked by a foreign object using pulse signals from the Hall sensor IC1; the direction of glass movement is determined by the phase difference of the pulses coming from the Hall sensor IC1 and the Hall sensor IC2 (Fig. 1.56).

Maintenance recommendation

The ECU remembers the initial position of the corresponding glass. When disconnecting the battery terminal, fuse or drive connector, the data is lost, but after the connection is restored, the window lifter operates (both in manual and automatic mode) is restored. Therefore, after disabling, you should initialize the system by following the steps below.

Hold the main switch or window control switch in the UP position.

If you hold the switch in the UP position for about 1 second after the glass has been raised to the stop, the window lifter ECU will remember the original position of the glass.

Repeat the same procedure to memorize the initial position of the windows of the remaining doors. The test procedure has been modified in accordance with the changes in the electric window drive circuit.
