Disassembly and assembly of the instrument cluster
When disassembling and assembling, follow the assembly drawing "instrument cluster".
Checking the speedometer
1. Connect a calibration speedometer and make sure that the standard speedometer readings are within acceptable limits.
Note: Worn tires or incorrect tire pressure will increase speedometer error.
2. Check up fluctuations of indications of a speedometer.
- Maximum swing -±2 km/h
Checking the reed switch
Check continuity between terminals "A" And "IN".
Checking the tachometer
1. Connect a calibration tachometer and start the engine.
2. Compare the readings of the calibration and standard tachometers.
Note: do not raise the engine speed above the allowable.
Fuel gauge and sensor
Checking the fuel gauge
1. Disconnect the fuel level sensor and auxiliary fuel level sensor connector (4WD models).
2. Turn on the ignition and make sure that the needle of the fuel gauge points to the mark "E" (empty) and the low fuel indicator light is on.
3. Short the lead "1" fuel level sensor connector to ground (from the wiring harness side).
4. (4WD) Close the outputs of the additional fuel level sensor (from the wiring harness side).
5. Turn off the ignition and check that the needle of the fuel gauge moves to the mark "F".
Checking the fuel level sensor
1. Measure the resistance between the leads.
2. Make sure the float moves smoothly.
3. Measure the resistance between terminal and ground for each float position.
Checking the coolant temperature gauge
1. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor connector.
2. Turn on the ignition and make sure that the arrow of the coolant temperature gauge is at the mark "WITH".
3. Close the terminals of the coolant temperature sensor connector (from the wiring harness side) and make sure that the needle of the coolant temperature gauge is at the mark "H".
4. Measure the resistance between the leads.
5. Measure resistance between a conclusion and the case of the gauge at various temperature of a cooling liquid.
