Removing
1. Disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the storage battery.
2. Remove the front bumper.
3. Remove the coolant pump pulley by securing the pulley from turning with a screwdriver.
4. Remove the crankshaft pulley using the special tool.
A) Fix the belt with the special tool (from the drive side of the air conditioning compressor).
Note: Do not install the special tool on the drive side of the generator.
b) Loosen the bolt while holding the tool from turning.
Note: there is a service hole on the fender liner to facilitate work.
Removing and installing the timing belt head.
1 - air pipe,
2 - air conditioner drive belt,
3 - coolant pump drive belt,
4 - generator drive belt,
5 - coolant pump pulley,
6 - crankshaft pulley,
7 - timing belt cover,
8 - flange of the crankshaft pulley,
9 - timing belt tensioner,
10 - timing belt.
5. Remove the timing belt cover.
6. Remove the timing belt tensioner.
A) Set the number one piston to TDC on the compression stroke.
(1) Temporarily install the crankshaft pulley bolt, rotate the crankshaft to the right and align the mark on the pulley with the alignment mark on the camshaft bearing cap.
(2) Make sure that the mark on the crankshaft pulley and the alignment mark on the oil pump housing are aligned.
b) If the belt is to be reused, mark it with the number one cylinder piston at TDC on the compression stroke as shown in the illustrations.
V) Remove the timing belt tensioner.
7. Remove the timing belt.
Note: If the belt is going to be reused, mark the direction of rotation arrow on its non-working side.
Examination
1. Check the timing belt:
- Do not bend or twist the timing belt.
- Do not allow the toothed belt to come into contact with oil or water.
- Do not stretch the timing belt during installation.
2. Check the timing belt for the following defects, as shown in the figure:
A) Check that the timing belt is correctly installed.
b) If the belt teeth are damaged or cracked, check that the camshaft and water pump are not jammed.
V) If there is significant wear on the non-working side of the belt, check for nicks on the side of the tensioner pulley.
G) If wear or damage is found on only one side of the belt, check the belt guide and pulley alignment.
d) If there is significant wear on the side of the belt, check the timing belt cover for damage. If necessary, replace the timing belt.
3. Check the timing belt tensioner.
Rotate the tensioner and make sure it rotates freely and there is no abnormal noise in the bearing. Check the contact surface of the roller for damage.
Installation
1. Install the timing belt.
A) Set the number one piston to TDC on the compression stroke.
b) Install the timing belt, aligning the marked marks with the marks on the pulleys.
2. Install the timing belt tensioner.
A) Install the timing belt tensioner and temporarily tighten the mounting bolt. Adjust the timing belt tension.
(1) Use a screwdriver to turn the tensioner clockwise and tension the belt.
Note: Make sure the distance shown in the picture is approximately 11mm.
(2) Temporarily install the crankshaft pulley bolt, rotate the crankshaft two turns, setting the number one piston to TDC on the compression stroke.
(3) Make sure that when applying the rated load, the deflection of the belt is 5 mm.
If the values are not as specified, loosen the bolt and adjust the belt tension.
- Rated load - 39 + 8 N
b) Tighten the tensioner bolt.
- Tightening torque - 39±8 Nm
3. Install the timing belt guide onto the crankshaft pulley as shown.
4. Install the timing belt cover.
A) Remove the old gasket.
b) Install a new gasket into the grooves in the cover.
V) Install the cover and tighten the bolts.
5. Using the special tool, install the crankshaft pulley.
A) Fix the belt with the special tool (from the drive side of the air conditioning compressor).
Note: Do not install the special tool on the drive side of the generator.
b) Tighten the bolt while holding the tool from turning.
- Tightening torque - 98 + 10 Nm
Note: there is a service hole in the fender liner to facilitate work.
6. Install the coolant pump pulley, securing it with a screwdriver to prevent rotation.
7. Install the alternator drive belt and adjust its tension (see chapter "Maintenance and general inspection and adjustment procedures").
8. Install the power steering pump drive belt.
9. Install the A/C compressor drive belt.
10. Install the air filter hose.
11. Install the front bumper.
12. Connect a wire to the negative plug of the storage battery.
