Preparing for removal



1. Drain the coolant.

2. In the presence of AS system (air bypass systems into the exhaust manifold) remove the AS system vibration valve together with the air supply manifold from the cylinder head.

3. Disconnect the fuel hoses from the fuel pump and carburetor.

4. Remove the heater tube bracket from the exhaust manifold.

5. Remove the vacuum tube from the cylinder head and carburetor by unscrewing the three bolts and first disconnecting the vacuum tubes from the cylinder head and carburetor.

Before removing the tubes, use the labels to facilitate their identification.

Removal



1. Remove the spark plugs and tubes.

2. Remove the cylinder head cover.

3. Remove the rocker arm axle assembly by first uniformly loosening and unscrewing the three bolts and two nuts in the sequence shown.



4. Remove the push rods and place them so that they do not get mixed up during installation.

5. Remove the cylinder head.

a) Loosen and remove the 13 bolts evenly in several passes in the sequence shown in the figure.

Warning: If the bolts are loosened and removed in the wrong order, the cylinder head may warp or crack.






b) Remove the head from the cylinder block mounting pins and place it on wooden blocks. If the head does not come off, you can use a flat-blade screwdriver, inserting it into the gas joint.

Warning: When performing this action, be careful not to damage the joint plane of the cylinder head and cylinder block.
