- The maximum allowable runout is 0.06 mm
If there is more runout, replace the crankshaft.
2. Check the connecting rod and main journals.
A) Using a micrometer, measure the diameter of each neck.
Main journal diameter:
- Rated - 57.985 - 58.000 mm
- Repair size reduced by 0.25 mm - 57.745 -57.755 mm
Crankpin Diameter:
- Rated - 47.985 - 48.000 mm
- Repair size reduced by 0.25 mm - 47.745 -47.755 mm
If the diameter is outside the specified limits, check the clearances in the main and connecting rod bearings.
b) Check each neck for out-of-roundness and taper as shown. The maximum allowable values of these parameters are 0.02 mm.
For large values of out-of-roundness and taper, replace the crankshaft.
3. If necessary, grind the main and / or connecting rod journals for repair (decreased) size. Install new oversized main and/or connecting rod bearings.
