- Maximum permissible runout is 0.06 mm
If the runout is greater, replace the crankshaft.
2. Check the connecting rod and main journals.
a) Using a micrometer, measure the diameter of each journal.
Main journal diameter:
- Nominal - 57.985 - 58.000 mm
- Reduced by 0.25 mm repair size - 57.745 -57.755 mm
Connecting rod journal diameter:
- Nominal - 47.985 - 48.000 mm
- Reduced by 0.25 mm repair size - 47.745 -47.755 mm
(The publication is taken from the website: ToyotaMan)
If the diameter is outside the specified limits, check the clearances in the main and connecting rod bearings.
b) Check each journal for out-of-roundness and taper as shown in the figure. The maximum permissible values for these parameters are 0.02 mm.

If the out-of-roundness and taper values are large, replace the crankshaft.
3. If necessary, grind the main and/or connecting rod journals for repair (decreased) size. Install new main and/or connecting rod bearings of the oversize size.
