Note: This describes the removal of the front door trim. The process for removing the rear door trim is similar.
Removal

Remove the triangular cover of the rear view mirror by unscrewing 3 screws and remove the mirror. If an adjustable mirror is installed, disconnect its plug connection.

Remove the window lift handle. To do this, insert a screwdriver or cloth between the spacer washer and the lever and press the G-4849 locking clip. At the same time, disconnect the handle from the drive.

Cars produced before 4/87: Remove the two screws securing the inner handle.

Unscrew the bolt and move the handle forward.
Disconnect the handle from the levers and remove.
Remove the trim and screws from the armrest or handle. See also drawing G-4842.

If there is a shaped trim, use a small screwdriver to remove the cover covering the screw and unscrew the screw (fig. G-4849).
Use a wide spatula or wooden trowel to separate the door trim from the bottom of the panel. This will open the trim fastening clips. Remove the trim.
Disconnect the plug connection between the window lifter and the door speaker and remove the trim.

If necessary, remove the moisture-proof film. First remove the armrest holder and the window lift relay (fig. G-4853).
Installation

Carefully apply the moisture-proof film from the bottom up to the door panel. The film serves to protect against air flows, moisture and sound insulation. If the quality of the film adhesion is insufficient, you can use adhesive tape or regular glue.
Install the armrest holder and window lift relay and secure them with screws.
Insert the edge of the film into the gap of the door leaf and stick it with adhesive tape, see Fig. G-4851. Make sure that the hole for the fastening clamps is not sealed.
Inspect the mounting clamps. Replace any damaged ones.
Connect the plug connections of the loudspeaker, electric window lifter and central locking device.
Cars produced before 4/87. Install and secure the inside door handle with screws.
Insert the door trim first at the top, then at the bottom and snap the clips into place with your palm.
When fitting a door with a shaped trim, screw in the top screw that secures it and close it with a cover
Secure the armrest with screws and place the covers on the screws, if any.
Install and secure the rear view mirror with screws. Install the mounting cover. For an adjustable mirror, first connect the plug connection.
Connect the inner door handle to the rods and insert the locking bracket, see the figure in the "Removal" section.

Install the window lift handle on the axle so that when the window is closed, the handle "looks" upward and tilts back at an angle of 30° from the vertical.
