It should be borne in mind that improper handling of tires, in particular frequent driving over curbs or rails at high speed, leads to damage to tires that does not appear immediately, but later.

Tire cleaning

Avoid cleaning tires with steam if possible. If the steam jet nozzle is brought too close to the tire, its rubber layer will be destroyed within a few seconds. Even if cold water is used. If a tire has been cleaned in this way for any reason, it should be replaced.

A tire that has been in contact with oil or thick grease for a long time should also be replaced. This leads to local swelling, which subsequently disappears. However, the load-bearing capacity of such a tire is reduced.

Tire storage

Tires should be stored in a cool, dark and dry place and should not come into contact with oil or thick grease.

Wheels should be stored horizontally or suspended by the rim in a garage or basement.

Before removing the wheel, it is necessary to inflate it to 0.3-0.5 bar.

Winter tires should be stored on their own rims, as remounting them is not cost-effective.

Tire running-in

New tires have a smooth surface. Therefore, they require running-in. This also applies to the spare tire. During the running-in process, the initial wear causes the tire surface to become rough.

For the first 300 km of driving you need to be especially careful with new tires on wet roads.
