Removing
Remove the front wheel.

Loosen the anti-roll bar nut (pic. 4.23).
Attention! If the ball joint shaft turns with the nut, use a hex wrench (by 6 mm), to hold the stand.

Loosen the top strut lock nut (pic. 4.24).
Attention! Do not completely unscrew the nut.

Disconnect the brake hose bracket bolt. Disconnect brake hose, speed sensor harness (ABS).
Disconnect the mounting clamps from the rack.
Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts securing the shock absorber strut.

Remove the 3 nuts securing the upper strut support and remove the shock absorber strut (pic. 4.26).
Install the bolt and two nuts on the bracket at the bottom of the stand and secure it in a vise.

Using the special tool, compress the spring (pic. 4.27).
Using the special tool, hold the top spring cup and loosen the nut.
Disassemble the strut by removing the strut top mount, bearing, top spring cup, damper insulator, compression stop, spring, and spring isolator.
Examination

Pulling and sinking the shock absorber rod, check that its stroke is smooth and there is no extraneous resistance or noise. If defective, replace shock absorber (pic. 4.28).
Installation
Install the lower spring insulator to the strut.
Install the spring compression travel stop on the stem.

Using the special tool, compress the spring and install the spring on the strut (pic. 4.29).

Install the shock absorber and spring cup. Align label «OUT» on the upper cup of the spring, with a mark on the shock absorber insulator, as shown in Figure 4.30.

Install the upper spring cup with the mark toward the rear of the vehicle (pic. 4.31).
Install the bearing and upper strut mount, aligning them correctly with respect to the rear of the vehicle.
Note. Make sure the bearing is seated in the top leg of the strut.
Using the special tool, hold the upper spring seat and install a new nut.
Tightening torque: 47 Nm.
Install other parts in the reverse order of removal.
