4WD vehicles have permanent all-wheel drive, the so-called "Full time 4WD", with locking center differential.
Note: For more information about the operation of the systems, see the chapter "Manual".
Depending on the configuration, blocking can be carried out in two ways:
- 1) With mechanical locking center differential (C. DIF. LOCK) When you press the button on the instrument panel, the pneumatic drive located on the transfer case, "hard" blocks the center differential. This leads to an equal distribution of torque on the front and rear axles, which significantly improves cross-country ability.
- 2) With automatic locking center differential (Viscous coupling). This system does not require driver intervention, but cars equipped with this system do. have worse cross-country ability compared to vehicles with the system "C. DIF. LOCK". This is due to the fact that the viscous clutch does not provide 100% blocking, and the clutch is actuated with a slight delay in Burden.
Scheme of all-wheel drive with a viscous coupling: 1 - interwheel differential, 2 - interaxle differential, 3 - viscous coupling
Technical data:
- API Oil Grade: GL-5
- Recommended viscosity: SAE 75W-90
- Filling volume (when replacing): 5.0 l
