General information
The driver must be in the vehicle to operate and apply the brakes.
Towing in this way can only be done on paved roads for short distances and at low speeds. In addition, wheels, axles, steering and brakes must be in good condition.
Caution: Use extreme caution when towing your vehicle. Avoid sudden starts and sudden maneuvers that could put excessive force on the towline or chain. The hook or eyelets and the towline or chain can break and cause serious injury or damage.
Towing
1. Release the parking brake.
2. Set shift lever to neutral position (manual transmission) or selector to position "N" (automatic transmission).
3. Set the transfer case control lever to position "H2". a button "H4" should not be pressed (rear wheel drive only).
3. The ignition key must be in position "ACC" (engine not running) or "ON" (engine running).
Note: If the engine is not running, the power steering and brakes will not work, so the force on the controls will be significantly higher than normal.
4. Exercise caution when towing a stuck vehicle. Stay away from vehicles and tow rope.
