1. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) automatically controls the output signals of the anti-lock brake system, traction control system or engine management system. It is designed to prevent the vehicle from skidding when turning on slippery roads or when the steering wheel is turned abruptly.

Note: The VSC system is only activated after the vehicle speed exceeds 15 km/h.


2. The slip indicator and DVS indicator light up for a few seconds after the ignition is turned on, and then go out. If the rear wheels start to slip while driving, the slip indicator flashes and a warning signal sounds. A warning signal also sounds if the VSC system is faulty.

3. Setting up the VSC system.

After disconnecting the wires from the battery terminals, an initial VSC system setup is required (this is indicated by the VSC indicator on the instrument cluster lighting up). Please configure the VSC system as follows: (the VSC indicator should go out).

a) Set the parking brake and move the automatic transmission selector to position "P".

b) Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position.

c) If 15 seconds have passed since the automatic transmission selector was moved to the "P" position, the VSC indicator will go out. If the vehicle is rocked or moved after the ignition key is moved to the "ON" position, it will take longer for the VSC indicator to go out.

If the VSC indicator does not go out after one minute, turn off the engine and try the same operations again starting from step (2).

4. In the following situations, there is a possibility that the VSC system is malfunctioning, and you should contact your TOYOTA dealer immediately:


  • if the VSC indicator does not light when the ignition is turned on;
  • if the VSC indicator remains on continuously.

Except for the situation with disconnecting the wires from the battery terminals. It is also worth considering that even if the VSC indicator is on (vSC system not working), then this does not interfere with normal driving.
