Disassembling the piston-connecting rod assembly [Toyota Duet M100]

1. Check the fit of the piston-piston pin joint by trying to move the piston back and forth on the piston pin in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the piston pin. If there is noticeable play, replace the piston and piston pin assembly.

2. Remove the piston rings.

a) Special tools (with an expander or a screwdriver) remove both compression rings.



b) Remove the oil scraper ring elements manually (scrapers and ring expander).

Note: Arrange the rings in the order they match the pistons.


3. Using a suitable tool, press the piston pin out of the piston bosses and the piston head of the connecting rod. Remove the connecting rod.



Note:
  • If necessary, place marks on the piston and connecting rod to ensure correct assembly.
  • Do not disassemble the piston and piston pin.
  • Lay out the piston group parts in the order of assembly.
