2. Measure the thickness of the brake pads.
Nominal Thickness:
- Dual Tires - 6.5mm
- Single tires - 6.5mm
- Small diameter - 6.5 mm
Minimum Thickness:
- Dual Tires - 1.5mm
- Single tires - 1.5mm
- Small diameter - 1.5 mm
If the pad lining thickness is less than the minimum, or shows signs of uneven wear, replace the brake pads. Note: If any of the pads need to be replaced, all rear brake pads must be replaced to maintain uniform braking.
3. Measure the inside diameter of the brake drum.
Nominal inner diameter:
- Dual Tires - 260mm
- Single tires - 290mm
- Small diameter - 224 mm
Max inside diameter:
- Dual Tires - 262mm
- Single Tires - 292mm
- Small diameter - 226 mm
If the drum is scored or worn, you can machine the brake drum on a lathe.
4. If there is improper contact between the brake pads and the drum, repair the pads with a brake pad repair lapping tool or replace the brake pads.
5. (Twin tires) If necessary, disconnect the brake drum from the hub and install a new drum.
