2. Measure the thickness of the brake pads.
- Minimum thickness - 1.0 mm
- Nominal thickness - 5.0 mm
If the pad lining thickness is less than the minimum, or shows signs of uneven wear, replace the brake pads.
Note: If any of the pads need to be replaced, all rear brake pads must be replaced to maintain uniform braking.
3. Measure the inside diameter of the brake drum.
- Maximum inner diameter - 256.0 mm
- Nominal inner diameter - 254.0 mm
If the drum is scored or worn, you can machine the brake drum on a lathe.
4. If there is improper contact between the brake pads and the drum, repair the pads with a brake pad repair lapping tool or replace the brake pads.
5. If necessary, replace the brake pads.
A) Using a screwdriver, disconnect the parking brake shoe lever from the front brake shoe.
b) Install the parking brake pad lever onto the new pad with a new circlip.
6. Check the wheel brake cylinder and brake shield for wear and damage.
