a) Install a new retaining ring into one of the piston bosses.

b) Gradually heat the piston to a temperature of approximately 60°C.
c) Align the front side marks located on the piston and connecting rod, then install the piston pin and the second retaining ring into the piston.

2. Install the piston rings.
a) Install the expander and oil scraper ring.

Note: The location of the oil scraper ring lock is on the opposite side of the circle from the expander lock.

b) Using a piston ring expander, install the two compression rings with the code marking facing upwards.

c) Install the piston rings so that the ring joints are positioned as shown in the figure.
Warning: Do not align the ring locks.

3. Install the bearing shells.
a) Align the bearing shell projection with the groove in the connecting rod or connecting rod cap.
b) Install the bearing shells into the connecting rod and the connecting rod lower head cap.
Warning: Install the bearing shell with the oil hole in the connecting rod.
