Checking the generator stator [Toyota Carina T190]

1. Check if there is a break in the starter winding.

Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals of the stator winding coils.



If the resistance tends to infinity, i.e. the circuit is open, then replace the stator.

2. Check if the stator winding is shorted to ground.

If the resistance is "0", i.e. the circuit is closed, then replace the stator.
