A) Check the electrolyte density of a fully charged battery at 20°C.
- Density - 1.25-1.27 kg / dm3
If the density is lower, charge the battery.
b) Check the electrolyte level in each battery cell and top up with distilled water if necessary.
2. Check up reliability of connection of plugs of the storage battery and absence of corrosion on them.
3. Check fuses and fuse links.
4. Check the accessory drive belt.
5. Inspect the wires going to the generator, check the reliability of their connection, the condition of the wiring, as well as the presence of extraneous noise coming from the generator when the engine is running.
6. Check up a chain of a control lamp of the category of the accumulator.
A) Warm up the engine to operating temperature and shut it off.
b) Disable all accessories.
V) Turn the ignition key to position "ON" ("ON"). The battery discharge indicator lamp should light up.
G) Start the engine. The lamp should go out. If the conditions are not met, check the test lamp circuit.
7. Checking the electrical circuit of the generator without load (at idle).
Note: if you have a tester to check the generator and battery, connect the latter in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
A) If you don't have a tester, do the following:
- Disconnect the wire from the generator output "IN" and connect it to the negative terminal of the ammeter.
- Connect the wire from the positive terminal of the ammeter to the terminal "IN" generator.
- Connect the positive lead of the voltmeter to the lead "IN" generator.
- Connect the negative lead of the voltmeter to "weight".
b) Measure the alternator output voltage and current from idle speed up to 2000 rpm.
- Current strength - no more than 10 A
Output voltage:
- at 25°C - 14.0-15.0 V
- at 115°C - 13.5-14.3 V
If the voltage is not within the specified limits, replace the voltage regulator.
If the voltage is less than the specified value, then do the following:
Connect Lead "F" With "weight", start the engine and measure the voltage at the output "IN".
If the voltage is greater than the specified value, then replace the electronic voltage regulator.
If the voltage is less than the specified value, then check the generator.
8. Measure the voltage at the output of the generator and the current in the circuit "battery generator" at 2000 rpm, high beam headlights on and heater fan switch on ("HI").
- Current strength - not less than 30 A
If the current is less than the specified value, then repair the generator.
Note: With a fully charged battery, the output current may be less than the specified value.
