Replacing the parking brake lever [Toyota Corolla Verso-AR10]

Removal the top console panel

Using a screwdriver, release the 4 fasteners and remove the top panel of the console (Fig. 6.20).

Note: Wrap the screwdriver blade with electrical tape before starting work.


Remove the rear end panel of the console.

Removal the storage compartment on the console



Remove the cover.

Remove 4 bolts and remove the glove box (Fig. 6.21).

Removal the parking brake lever



Loosen the lock nut and adjusting nut.

Remove 2 bolts and remove the parking brake lever (Fig. 6.22).

Lift the latch.

Disconnect parking brake cable No.1 from the lever.

Remove the screw and remove the parking brake switch assembly.

Installing the parking brake lever



Install the parking brake switch assembly and secure with the screw.

Connect parking brake cable No.1 to the lever.

Press the retainer fully as shown in the figure (Fig. 6.23).

Install the adjusting nut and locknut.

Install and secure the parking brake lever with 2 bolts.

Tightening torque: 14.5 Nm.



Remove the rear wheel.

Adjust the parking brake shoe clearance.

Install the rear wheel.

Tightening torque: 103 Nm.

Check the travel of the parking brake lever.

Adjust the travel of the parking brake lever.
