Adjusting the parking brake [Toyota Corolla Verso-AR10]

Remove the rear wheel.

Adjust the parking brake shoe clearance.

Install the rear wheel.

Tightening torque: 103 Nm.

Checking the travel of the parking brake lever



Fully tighten the parking brake lever and count the number of clicks.

Parking brake lever travel: 6–9 clicks with 196 N applied force.

Adjusting the travel of the parking brake lever



Remove the top panel of the console.

Remove the rear end panel of the console.

Remove the storage box on the console.

Loosen the lock nut and, by turning the adjusting nut, set the nominal value of the parking brake lever stroke (Fig. 6.18).

Parking brake lever travel: 6–9 clicks with 196 N applied force.

Tighten the lock nut.

Tightening torque: 5.0 Nm.

Check the travel of the parking brake lever by tightening and releasing it 3-4 times.

Check to see if the parking brake is sticking.

Make sure that the indicator lamp comes on when the parking brake lever is moved.



Test conditions: The parking brake indicator lamp should come on after the first click.
