Note: When using a vise, do not damage the steering column.
1. Lubricate the surfaces of the parts indicated by the arrows in the assembly drawing with grease.
2. Install the main shaft and bushing.
- A) Using the special tool, install a new circlip on the main shaft.
- b) Install the main shaft into the steering column tube.
- V) Apply grease to the surface of the new bushing.
- G) Using the special tool and a hammer, install the bushing.
- d) Using the special tool, install a new circlip on the main shaft.
3. Install the angle adjustment lever and holder.
- A) Install the holder.
Note: Install the holder as shown in the picture.
- b) Install the #1 lever axle, tilt adjustment lever, and auxiliary tilt adjustment lever.
Note: Align the parts as shown in the picture.
- V) Tighten the locknut counterclockwise. Tightening torque 12 Nm.
Note: Lock the tilt adjustment lever in the up position and tighten the lock nut.
- G) Install booster #1 and tighten the bolt. Tightening torque 5.4 Nm.
Note: To eliminate the gap between the booster and the nut, turn the booster a small amount counterclockwise and then tighten the bolt.
- d) Install the spring.
4. Remove two plates.
- A) Install the holder insert.
- b) Install the plate guide and plate.
- V) Install a new plate clamp.
5. Install the support bracket.
- A) Install the two No. 1 steering column holder bushings to the support bracket.
- b) Install the support bracket to the steering column tube.
- V) Install a new axle bolt and washer.
- G) Tighten locknut. Tightening torque 9.5 Nm.
